By now I’m sure you’ve heard that legendary talk show icon Regis Philbin passed away. Such a loss … but a life well lived I am sure he would say.

“Live with Regis and Kathie Lee” started just as I was in graduate school and then starting my career in marketing. Their on-screen chemistry was so infectious, right from the start. And their love for all things entertainment was also, well, entertaining and inspiring at the same time.

While I was already a pop culture fanatic before, I do have to say that Regis Philbin made me realize the importance of pop culture in marketing and he also made me understand that entertainment has to be marketed as well. As someone who was looking to enter the field of branding and marketing, I found the show’s style and content to be extremely motivating. It made me want to go into marketing even more!

So many have already spoken about the impact that Regis has had, which in itself is humbling. So I find it necessary to pile on and say thank you to Regis for giving me even further inspiration to pursue a career that I have loved so much for so many years now.

There are many of us, some you know and some you don’t, who owe you such thanks.

What’s your experience? JIM

PS - I briefly shook hands with Regis at a restaurant in New York back in the day. He was so gracious and kind … yet another lesson that I learned from him. Be gracious and kind, always.
