Pantone x USPS 250th Birthday #FeelingFriday
Source: Pantone
Today I’m continuing the 250th Birthday Celebration of the USPS (United States Postal Service) with a shout out to one piece of the carefully curated birthday content that can’t be over looked … the collaboration with Pantone and the “250 Years in Color.”
The collaboration is a retrospective look at the history of the USPS through the lens of Pantone colors, with a new dedicated color created for each milestone.
For example, at the nation’s birth we have Pantone’s USPS Parchment White.
In 1918 when airplanes were first used to carry mail, we have Pantone’s USPS Airmail Red to commemorate the breakthrough in logistics and delivery. And so on and so on.
Colors mean so much to us in our emotions, our visual identities, in our memories, and in our expressions. I remember when Pantone released a color called Puerto Rico Sunshine that reflects the feelings that come from experiencing all that the island and its glorious sunshine brings to its people and its visitors.
Every year Pantone picks a color of the year to reflect the sentiment of the culture. This year for 2025 it’s Mocha Mousse to bring warmth, nurturing, and soothing vibes to our collective spirits. We need it.
So I just think it’s so cool that Pantone surprisingly partnered with this organization to bring to life the history of the USPS in a different kind of way through the expression and feelings and identity of color … and all that brings to all of us.
It’s fascinating and illuminating.
