The U.S. Postal Service Turns 250 Years Old
“Happy Birthday to you …”

When you do the math it all makes sense, but it’s pretty incredible that the United States Postal Service (USPS) is turning 250 years old this year. That’s a pretty long legacy of pretty incredible service to the American people, especially thinking through the challenges of transporation, delivery, and logistics back in the day and through the years.
For stamp collectors, of course there’s a new commemorative stamp collection on the scene to stamp the occasion.

But who knew just how prolific the USPS is … it’s a brand unto itself and it’s marking its birthday with a ton of content all loaded onto its website.
Mr. Zip video series for kids on the USPS YouTube channel
Special exhibit at the National Postal Museum at The Smithsonian
Official USPS Podcast (yes, a podcast!)
Contest where fans can vote to bring back their favorite stamp from years and years of collectible stamps
Collaboration with Pantone that features the colors that shaped America
Merchandise shop containing special USPS “swag”
Coming soon .. commemorative coffee table book on the history of the USPS
That’s an incredible buffet of content at the ready for a true celebration. Congratulations!
Brand USPS has many fans, like many brands, so this is feeding that brand love which is an amazing thing to see. Especially at a time when so much work coming out of our government agencies in general isn’t getting this kind of attention. It feels like a big hug.
So well assembled and consistently put together … there must be a well organized brand management team behind this all.
