Commence Haircare from Brooke Shields - Not Her First Play in the Category!

It’s been over a year now since Brooke Shields launched her own haircare line “for women over 40,” and it appears she’s having great success. Not a surprise, as I would say she’s a “thought leader” in this space given her longevity in her career as a woman herself over 40 and her beautiful hair always being a part of her own brand identity as an actress and model for so many years.

Here’s a spot from the early 1980’s where Brooke was quite successful as model/spokesperson for the brand Wella Balsam …

And now here she is with her own haircare line Commence …

The Commence haircare line started with three core products and Brooke has since added three more, all available at her website. The products are all formulated to address the changing haircare needs as women age including dryness of the hair/scalp, something perhaps other products don’t offer. Perhaps something she knows something about.

To celebrate the brand’s recent one-year anniversary, Commence partnered with the accessory brand Clare V (founded by Clare Vivier) by offering a limited edition t-shirt with the words “Beaux Cheveux” or “Beautiful Hair.”  Cute!

I’m loving this on many fronts. It’s great to see a brand address the needs and solve the problems of a specific group of people, perhaps those overlooked by more mainstream brands. Check.

It’s also amazing to see a brand (Brooke Shields) continue to reinvent and grow and evolve through the years and take on many lives, consistently. She’s embracing every aspect and phase of her life, graciously and credibly, while helping others do the same. It’s amazing.
