Barbie with Type 1 Diabetes

If you read my blog on any kind of regular, then you know I’m a huge fan of brand Barbie. It’s one of those brands that lives both the reflection and shaping of culture, and for that I have profound respect.
Just last week, the brand continued its very important work by introducing its first Barbie with Type 1 Diabetes, complete with a Continuous Glucose Monitor and Insulin Pump to show girls and boys out there who have Type 1 Diabetes that they are not alone and that they are normalized.
Bravo!
The brand worked with the group Breakthrough T1D which is a global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization to make sure this particular Barbie accurately portrayed the community. And as you can imagine, in return there are many Barbie dolls in route to the annual Breakthrough T1D Congress as a donation to the attendees there.
The brand also made one-of-a-kind dolls for two global ambassadors: Peloton Instructor Robin Arzón (U.S.) and Model Lila Moss (U.K.). Take a look …
This new Barbie is part of the ongoing Barbie Fashionistas line, meant to represent the fabric of our society and culture (my words), and to include everyone in our world (my words again). I just absolutely love it. Who better than Barbie?
