One final note on The Oscars this year … sure, it’s always fun to predict the winners and then actually see where it all nets out. This is pop culture’s night out on the town and these folks are beacons of influence in many ways.

But as you may have noticed this week, I’ve been focused on some winners outside of the trophy categories who came shining through, and who are also having an impact. Valentino, Lady Gaga, and now Jimmy Kimmel.

Hosting The Oscars (or any of the major awards shows) is a major risk. It’s almost impossible to get it right, to please everyone, and to entertain along the course of a very long show. A few have done it successfully, and many have not. You either rise in public sentiment or you fall dramatically based on your performance. Talk about the pressure!

Jimmy Kimmel nailed it in my opinion. And he cemented himself into pop culture in ways that he’s never done before and has separated himself out of the pack like he’s never done before.

A clear winner in my book. Here’s the trailer that was released prior to the show, that shows the gravitational pull he was about to create. And he did!
