Sweeties Cupcakes in Brooklyn, NY USA

I more than often talk about big brand marketing because that’s my first (career) love, but as I wrote about in my second marketing book (“The Experience Effect for Small Business”), small brands and small businesses can also do incredible marketing without big brand budgets. The concepts of marketing and building a brand experience are the same, albeit on a smaller scale.

I’d like to feature one particular small business today from Brooklyn, NY USA: Sweeties Cupcakes.

From start to finish, Sweeties Cupcakes is a complete and satisfying brand experience. It’s actually a bit of an escape from the world … an escape into bright colors, food aesthetics, sprinkles/sauces, and overall decadent light. Light in what feels like a dark world somedays.

So inspiring. And what’s so fabulous about small business is that often you can get even closer to your consumers. You have the ability to create an even closer and more magical experience than perhaps a big brand can. Something perhaps that the big brands can learn from the small ones. Enter Sweeties Cupcakes.

Cupcakes aren’t new, neither is ice cream. But there’s something fresh about visiting Sweeties Cupcakes that just feels special, and it makes you feel special in the process. Like that cupcake in a jar. With sprinkles and all the feels. You have to eat it with your eyes closed to absorb it all.

I’m closing my eyes and feeling it now. That’s a great brand and a great brand experience, although you can’t have one without the other.

What about your brand? What’s your experience? JIM
