We are in the midst of the 2021 Olympic Games hosted in Tokyo and while the games don’t feel quite as exciting as perhaps in the past, there was a compelling moment in time which may have changed the world … even if only just a little bit.

Simone Biles, one of the most gifted athletes of all time, said “enough.” She walked off the “stage” while competing and essentially said that she needed a break from all the pressure.

Good for you. With all of her great successes and accolades, this just might be Simone’s most important moment in time. She has given the world a gift … proof that you can say “no,” “done,” “not now,” “enough.”

The pressures of life can feel unforgiving at times. Endless. Insurmountable. So we need the ability to stop and get off the ride for a bit. Regroup. Then get back on. I’m taking great inspiration from Simone this week and I want to thank her for doing what we all know was nearly impossible. She has now made it possible for us all to take a break when we need it.

Whitney Houston sang it best for the Olympics in 1988 with “One Moment in Time.” It is the Olympics song of all Olympics songs and it’s my pick or this very important #MusicMonday. Simone just gave the world a breakthrough moment in time.

“I broke my heart
Fought every gain
To taste the sweet
I face the pain
I rise and fall
Yet through it all
This much remains …I want one moment in time”

Take care of yourselves. Take a break. Take the time to rest, recover, and heal. Take your moment in time.

What’s your experience? JIM
