“Where Sport Has No Rules …”

The pandemic has certainly accelerated a lot of the technology advances that had been brewing for years. The “latest” buzz is the Metaverse. Perhaps in part thanks to Facebook’s parent company new name which brought the hype to the forefront. But I remember dabbling in it years ago, before we called it anything. Back then it was advancing slowly but now what we call the Metaverse is starting to take shape for sure.

But sometimes it takes a brand, a mega-brand, to really make it a reality.

Enter Nike with its new Nikeland. It’s the brand’s take on creating a Metaverse experience. Quoting the video from YouTube …

“Welcome to NIKELAND on Roblox, a new virtual experience where sport has no rules. Parkour dodgeball with friends? Let’s go. Trampoline tag and a freshly styled avatar? Why not. Your real-life movement unlocks superpowers for even more ways to play.”

The YouTube video says it all … “Where Sport Has No Rules.”

You KNOW this is just the first of many. My bet is it’ll take hold with brands and then start to infiltrate other organizations as well.
