Doritos Celebrates Dia de los Muertos

It’s December 2021, and ever since Thanksgiving weekend I’ve been purposefully featuring holiday advertising/videos because, hey, ‘tis the season.

Well here’s one that I should have written about from another holiday called Dia de los Muertos which is a holiday in Mexico where loved ones celebrate those that they have lost. The “Day of the Dead” is generally celebrated on November 1st and 2nd every year.

This year, the Doritos brand joined the celebration with a video featuring an LGBTQ+ couple (from the dead). Abuelo (Grandpa) and his new pareja (partner) Mario to be exact.

The best part of this video is that you don’t even need to know the language to understand the story.

“Nunca Es Tarde Para Ser Quien Eres” … “It’s Never Too Late to be Who You Are.”

Indeed. Perfect messaging for any holiday. And a message that inclusion will always be alive.

Thanks, Doritos! What’s your experience? JIM
