“Christmas in July” is a bit of a “thing” where people celebrate elements of Christmas in the middle of the summer in order to “prepare” for the actual holiday six months later. Plus in many parts of the world it is winter so why not?!? In the marketing world, “Christmas in July” has many times been a popular promotional theme to bring holiday sales to the middle of the year. If you’ve never heard of it, then you have now!

For 2020, “Christmas in July” perhaps takes on a whole new meaning or at least it does at Burger King. Many wish the year to be over and many long for the hope and togetherness that the holiday season brings. If only we could fast forward this year!

That’s exactly what Burger King is doing in its promotional campaign that ran during July with its Christmas feel. And a 2 for $5 deal too!

This is a great example of a brand tapping into current sentiment and giving people something simply to smile about at a time when its hard to smile.

Well done. What’s in your experience? JIM
