PR Council "Agency-Ready Certificate"

Today I have the honor of kicking off the Agency-Ready Certificate program for the PR Council. It’s a program designed for students and recent graduates so that they can learn what it’s like to work at a PR/Communications agency and prep for their career.

It’s a jump start if you will and an attempt to give the new generation of talent entering our industry a way to hit the ground running. The course includes a job board so that participants can connect with opportunities at the agencies that are a part of the PRCouncil.

Today I will talk about what it means to be a “modern” PR firm but will spend most of the time taking questions. We want to hear what the students and graduates need and what they are looking to get out of the program. We believe we should start by listening.

We also strongly believe that it’s our duty to make sure that the newest members of our teams are successful. One way to do that is to make sure that they are ready to start their careers.

The Agency-Ready Certificate program is an idea that literally popped up in a meeting in January and here we are in June ready to kick it off. That’s pretty amazing and something that I am personally very proud of.

I’ll be checking in with the participants throughout the course of the course, and I’ll keep you posted. I’m hoping that it’s an amazing experience for all, including the “instructors” from all of the member agencies.
