Staying Positive During the Coronavirus Crisis

We are going through some tough times, that is for sure. And some of us are going through really tough times, tougher than we’ve ever been able to imagine.

So how on earth can we be positive right now?!? I’m an eternal optimist, and it’s even hard for me to be positive right now. But I feel like I need to be positive for my friends, my family, my teams … and for my own mental health. We’ve been talking about mental health a lot lately.

At the end of the day - I’m not going to let this crush me. But how?!?

For one thing, I’m talking to my family a lot more than I have lately. I’m having dinner with my husband every single night which has never happened in the last several years. I’m not as exhausted from the constant travel as I generally am. I’m working even more closely (albeit on video) with my team members than ever before.

And some of the work we’ve been doing for brands during this time has been outstanding. Outstandingly good for communities.

Most importantly - I’m not taking anything for granted. I’m appreciating every single moment. Every dinner. Every glass of wine. Every laugh. And yes, I’m still trying to laugh. Every time I get on a video meeting I try to get people to laugh a little. It’s good for our mental health.

Admittedly, I feel a little guilty about trying to be positive. How can I be positive when so many are suffering?

But I think we have to be! We have to stay positive to stay hopeful. Hopeful that this will go away and the further suffering will stop.

Staying positive fuels hope. And we can never lose hold of hope.
