KFC Honors Movember

You are likely aware of Movember … the annual movement to raise awareness of men’s health issues. Essentially men are encouraged to grow a mustache all throughout the month of November. Hence, Movember. I remember the first year it started. So grass roots and so fun. And it’s grown and grown just like, well, the mustaches and beards every Movember.

KFC in France decided to kick off the month in a fun way starting on November 1st this year. The brand shaved the mustache and beard off of its iconic “spokesperson” logo to show commitment to the cause. Presumably, it’ll all grow back throughout the month.

Smart. Clever. Great use of brand imagery and brand assets to join the community and show support. I personally love when brands tinker with their iconography to make a point. There was a time when that was considered off-brand but now I would consider it quite the opposite … on brand.

What can you do with your brand logo? What’s your experience? JIM
