New XBOX Logo - A Bigger Signal?

Source: XBOX

There seems to be so many new logos happening that I think I’m going to feature a new one every week, and see how far we can keep this going. Last week it was Spotify, this week it’s XBOX.

The logo above is new, the logo below is the prior version.

Gotta say that I love the color and dimension that the designers added. And while it might not pop on social channels as much (some have said), I bet it gives off a better vibe.

Often new logos are also a symbol of other changes happening on the brand or within the organization. A new strategy, new positioning, entering a new market, something to that effect.

In this case, it’s a new strategy and a new approach to the gaming franchise at Microsoft … from what I understand the division will no longer be called Microsoft Gaming, but instead XBOX, with a focus on the XBOX console and XBOX community without the corporate moniker causing any confusion.

Smart and to the point. Straight to the gamers themselves.

There are also new dynamic backgrounds, profiles, and dashboards for the gaming experience to behind this new logo.

Smart and to the point, once again, making this all feel like a leadership move.

Which is exactly what a logo change should be, a leadership move. Not a logo change for change itself, but to modernize and note a significant change to benefit the consumer. In this case, the gamer.

I say well done. What say you? What’s your experience? JIM
