Waitrose Presents “The Perfect Gift” for the Holidays

The holiday advertising coming out of the U.K. is on over drive right now …

I don’t know about you, but I’m in the mood for a rom com right now. There’s nothing better than a romantic comedy for the holidays, and the holiday season is full of them. Yes, I do watch “Love Actually” every single holiday. It’s tradition (if you’ve read my book “Out and About Dad” then you know what that means!).

Well U.K. food retailer Waitrose has served up a delicious holiday rom com for us as their holiday advert and it features actress Keira Knightley and comedian Joe Wilkinson. Heavy weights. It also clocks in at close to four minutes so there’s plenty of time for some good holiday storytelling to pull us all in. Heavy weight!

Sit back, relax, and enjoy …

The tie to food and our relationship with food is throughout. They meet at the cheese counter, which is such a natural place to meet people actually! Their entire relationship is built around food, whether it’s snacking, baking, or dining. The closing scene is just scrumptious. And the way the brand is positioned ever so subtly as the connector is brilliant. Especially for the holidays.

So yes the turkey pie may have been the perfect gift at the end of the film here, but I’d say that the film itself is the perfect gift from Waitrose to all of us for the holidays.
