Spam x “Lilo & Stitch” LTO Celebrates Hawaiian Culture
Source: Spam
Spotting a trend here … well perhaps it’s more than a trend because it’s been going on for quite awhile now … limited edition offers, or LTOs.
In this case, a promotional product done in collaboration between Disney’s release of the live action Summer movie “Lilo & Stitch” and the classic food product Spam.
Both celebrating Hawaiian culture!
Yes indeed Spam is part of the Hawaiian culture but you may not know that it’s been around since 1937! And it grew in popularity during World War II when the islands fed it to the troops!
The launch of this theatrical partnership included a live event on the beach in Hawaii featuring Spam recipe items to coincide with the movie release.
Here’s a little promo shot too (note the derivation of the name!) …
We are seeing a lot of limited edition promotional offers and collaborations this summer, a trend that has been around and I’m betting will continue to stay around as brand seek to attract attention in this crowded noise-filled world. It’s a great way to earn that attention and get people to try something new or come back to a brand that perhaps they have not visited for awhile … whether that’s an entertainment brand or a food brand!
Great collab! What’s your experience? JIM
