As a marketer and as a parent, this just warms my heart to see people take action to solve a real problem.
A group of parents in the U.K. formed a group called Mumsnet to tackle mobile phone addiction and its impact on young people. Specifically, the link to suicidal behavior.
Taking a page out of cigarette warning labels, the group wrapped mobile phones with packaging that rings alarm bells about the mental health and wellbeing of today's youth and sent them to government officials urging them to take action. The call to action was backed by data showing higher levels of anxiety and depression linked to mobile phone use.

Parallel to this effort, the group also launched an out of home and social media campaign directed to parents, using social media to warn against using social media. It’s an interesting twist to meet parents where they already are, and to use the very platform that's harming their kids to protect them from it.

Bold.
The campaign includes supportive information for parents in how to guide their children in safe mobile phone use. So it’s not just alarm bells, but actual information.
Heroes. Advocates. Parents taking action. Issues marketing in action, from those who are most impacted by the issues.
As a parent and a marketer, I both applaud and thank you.
