LEGO Botanicals - A New Valentine’s Day Experience

Source: LEGO

If you read my blog, you know I try to write a love letter to marketing (and to marketers) every week, multiple times a week. I celebrate our craft, I celebrate our campaigns, and I celebrate our work that I find particularly brilliant.

And while you might think I’d find it tiring and boring after awhile, time and time again I find something that absolutely blows my socks off.

Here’s one I just found … LEGO Botanicals and yes indeed, it’s one of those “blow my socks off” marketing moments.

LEGO Botanicals is a line of LEGO products where you can build flowers and plants of varying complexity. In and of itself, the products are simply spectacular. Orchids, roses, bonsai trees, floral arrangements, and entire gardens and greenhouses.

Spec-tac-u-lar.

But then LEGO does what LEGO does best: it took the building bricks and made them even bigger. LEGO took the Botanicals Line and solved a cultural problem.

Enter Valentine's Day.

Flowers' biggest day of the year. For some, pure joy. For others, disappointment. Because if you don't plan ahead or if (bless you) you forget, there are no flowers.

Crash.

Well now there’s a more experiential solution to Valentine’s Day flowers, with a loved one, a friend, your family, or just all by yourself. A creative expression of flowers, and an experience for the holiday. A reinvention of Valentines Day and what flowers really are meant to be. What flowers really should be.

A creative expression of love, LEGO style. As only LEGO can do.

I mean, does it get any better? Building LEGO flowers and giving them to your Valentine? Talk about building a brand bond!

Here’s a challenge … can your brand do something similar?

What's your experience? JIM
