Yesterday, March 8th was International Women’s Day, and this year’s theme is “Give to Gain.” I’d say that’s more like a call to action, because when we give of ourselves in time, energy, and resources then we all collectively gain.

While there was a lot of brand activity over the weekend, I’d like to point out one brand in particular … Barbie.
Since 1959, Barbie has been giving young girls (and boys) inspiration to pursue their best potential. The world has grown as a result.
Give to gain. Thank you for that, Barbie.
To celebrate International Women's Day this year, Barbie is pulling out all the stops with their new Dream Team. Eight new dolls honoring women who were the first in their chosen fields. Eight pioneers.
Serena Williams (United States): Tennis legend with 23 Grand Slam titles, entrepreneur, global icon.
Kellie Gerardi (United States): Research astronaut and payload specialist.
Regina Sirvent Alvarado (Mexico): Professional race car driver and a defining figure in motorsport.
Chloe Kelly (United Kingdom): Professional footballer and a face of modern women's football.
Helene Fischer (Germany): One of Germany's most influential contemporary pop artists.
Zoja Skubis (Poland): Youngest Polish woman to summit both Manaslu and Mount Everest.
Stephanie Gilmore (Australia): Professional surfer with eight World Surf League Championship titles.
Smriti Mandhana (India): First Indian woman cricketer to score centuries in all three formats.

But remember, this is brand Barbie, so it’s never just about the dolls.
The brand is also partnering with six female-founded companies in fashion, beauty, and beverages for limited-edition collab products:
FHI Heat (hair care)
Stoney Clover Lane (handbags)
GK (gymnastics apparel)
Unique Vintage (clothing)
Besita Boots (boots, obviously)
Moment (beverages).

Plus, a Barbie Dream Fest is scheduled at the end of March which is a full-on weekend fan experience designed to inspire the next generation, featuring a range of motivational speakers including Serena Williams from the Dream Team.
This is Barbie celebrating International Women’s Day, not just on March 8th, but every single day in play that represents, inspires, and grows.
Give to gain.
