Bad Bunny: “The World Will Dance” on February 8th
Source: YouTube
Bad Bunny just released the trailer for his Super Bowl Halftime Show and now I’m even more excited than I was before. Not because I’m a super fan because honestly I only know a few of his songs.
I’m excited because he has hit on an insight that might help us heal just a tiny little bit right now.
When you're out on a dance floor, something happens that nothing else can replicate. You're all dancing together. Different people. Different backgrounds. Different beliefs. You don't know each other. You've never met. But for a brief time, you're sharing an experience brought together by music and rhythm and something special that transcends everything that could otherwise divide us.
That's the power of music and dance. That's what I've always loved about it, from Donna Summer to Michael Jackson to Madonna to Lady Gaga and now to Bad Bunny.
Bad Bunny hits this hard in his teaser for this year’s Halftime Show when he makes it clear: "The World Will Dance."
He’s not saying that the world will agree or that the world will solve its problems.
“The World Will Dance.”
The world will dance for 13 minutes on the biggest stage on the planet. Yes, Bad Bunny is inviting us to put down everything else and dance together. The trailer shows him dancing with every walk of life, every corner of the world, all united by movement.
This is exactly what we need right now.
I'm not naive enough to think a Halftime Show will fix what's broken. A song set won't heal a divided nation and world. But here's what I do believe: we need moments where we choose to dance instead of fight. Moments where we step away from the division and the exhaustion, and we move together. We feel the beat. We sing along to the lyrics. We dance.
It’s a choice we need to make.
Bad Bunny is offering us that choice, so let’s take it. For one moment in time, on one global stage, he's saying: come dance with me. Come dance with each other.
I hope we take him up on it. I am.
What’s your experience? JIM
P.S. - From a brand perspective, the Halftime Show is sponsored by Apple Music, where you can purchase Bad Bunny’s music so the tie-in there is sheer perfection. So the message here is also “buy,” which is ok too.
