If you’ve never heard of the luxury leather brand Mlouye, then you are missing something really breakthrough. Particularly from a design perspective. It is gorgeous and it has a lot of meaning.

Mlouye is founded out of Istanbul by industrial designer Meb Rure who is completely inspired by the Bauhuas concept, a German design school that merged fine art with functional craft. With a quick search, you’ll discover that Bauhuas was created by architect Walter Gropius in 1919, and it transformed modern architecture, graphic design, and industrial manufacturing by making sure that art serves a practical purpose.

Let’s face it, there are a lot of leather goods brands out there. What you may not know is that Istanbul has become a major design center, so I’m not surprised to see this brand not only emerge from that region but breakthrough with a new concept in the industry.

With an industrial design that redefines the shape of the category. Literally.
