Small Business Spotlight: Lambertville, NJ at Halloween #FeelingFriday

Source: NJ.com

When my kids were young, we lived in the New Hope, PA and Lambertville, NJ area … two river towns located on the Delaware River between New York City and Philadelphia. It allowed us to raise the kids in a smaller town setting while I could manage a career in New York, while also still stay close to their mom as well. Managing multiple levels, shall we say. We made it work in what I also felt was the most beautiful way possible.

We grew very fond of the area, and while we moved away when the kids were grown, our daughter moved back to the Bucks County, PA after grad school and is now raising her family there.

We recently visited for our grandson’s 2nd birthday celebration and spent some time walking around Lambertville, NJ and realized that we had not been in town this time of year in quite awhile. We were so struck by the amazing Halloween decorations! Wow! Literally every store front was decked with a thematic for Halloween by what looked like the same designer.

Gorgeous. This was at first during the day, and then by night, well just wow!

It got us both so nostalgic for the days when we were living there, thinking maybe we should move back to enjoy it all again and be closer to family. Ahhh.

And it also made me realize how brilliant it is for business. The retail display is such a draw for tourists and retail traffic this time of year. It’s a reason to come visit the town, walk over the bridge into New Hope too, and yes by the way grab a bite to eat and have a drink. The restaurants were full, I saw lots of shopping bags, and the streets were lively.

The area was bustling!

A beautiful holiday display that is brilliantly calculated to bring in revenue for the town. And also make it yet another reason to have pride for living there.

Once I got home and dug in a little, I also learned that this has been a repeatable tradition for the town as well, so now these folks own it. It’s part of the Lambertville, NJ brand.

Well done! Own it! Yes, a town is a brand, and Lambertville, NJ is proving it!
