Dove Reddit r/eal Reviews

As Brand Dove always says, they've always stood for being real. As an observer and lover of marketing, I've gotta say that's for real.

But being "real" is easy to say. Living it? That's where you’ve got to show it.

Dove's latest social campaign proves they're serious about it. The brand compiled real reviews from Reddit of their hair repair mask, one of their fan favorite hair care products. They showed the good reviews and the bad ones too, and they put them front and center for consumers to absorb. Just like the hair mask.

Dove r/eal Reviews.

No filtering, no cherry-picking. Just the truth, straight from the consumers.

Talk about confidence! This shows that Dove isn’t afraid to be raw, to show their flaws, to air their weaknesses, and to share their consumers reading their own reviews. It makes the brand a part of the process and they invite other consumers to be a part of the process as well. It almost feels like it’s in real time. I think that’s a part of the magic here.

It also sends a massive signal that the brand doesn’t need to control the narrative. They are secure enough to let consumers do the flow.

That’s a wow.

It's an honest way to tell both your fanbase and new consumers that you embrace your triumphs and your flaws. That you're willing to address them. Not after you've spun them, and not after you've controlled the message but right now, as they get posted on social media.

Honest. Pure. Sincere. That's what a real brand actually does.

The key, though, is what to do next. How does the brand actually address the feedback? That’s the real challenge, taking it to the next level.

So here's the question for you: Are you ready to do what Dove is doing? Would you publish unfiltered reviews of your products? Would you let your consumers speak, even when they criticize?

What's your experience? JIM
